Instead, he sent Sacheen Littlefeather to accept on his behalf — giving her a platform to address the negative stereotypes of Native Americans perpetuated on TV and in movies. According to Ms. Littlefeather John Wayne was so enraged by her speech that he had to be restrained by 6 guards.
My point of view
Chris Rock’s joke about Jada Pinkett was in poor taste. I didn’t watch the show nor did I know she had alopecia. Sorry, I just don’t follow Hollywood like that! My initial confusion regarding the entire drama stemmed from the amazing documentary he produced called “Good Hair”. In 2009, Chris Rock tackled this very serious subject after his daughter asked him why she didn’t have good hair. It was a great documentary that was very educational in terms of culture, stereotypes, and biases.
The spin-off of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has a bitter aftertaste
Will Smith’s acting ability is simply astounding! Of course, he began as a rapper with cute songs like “Parents Just Don’t Understand”. His TV role as the mischievous “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” showed us his range and prepared us for the wealth of talent to be shared in years to come. It is estimated that he has starred or co-starred in approximately 42 movies and has a net worth of $350million. Currently, Will Smith is producing a spin-off of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that has been called dark in reviews.
