Following — Followed On Medium
Engagement Takes Commitment-Commitment Takes Work!
One of the “success” tips on Medium is to engage with other writers.
I joined Medium in April 2021 and am still learning all the ways to engage.
Like me — some join Medium without an established — large following on various platforms. Our “following” grows organically due to the quality of our work and of course the almighty algorithms.
Today I want to reach out to those I am following.
Many successful writers/editors encourage us to engage as a method for success and to build a following.
Similar to other social media platforms- build the following — hope they engage in a manner to affect the algorithms!
On the other hand, I’ve seen stories of writers who state they don’t follow writers with a large following but don’t follow a large number of writers.
I don’t have a large following. Yet, my following at the time of this writing is 196 and I am only following 74 writers. Let me explain.
Engagement to me means actually reading the story — clapping, highlighting, and responding. Realistically, other professional and personal responsibilities do not allow me the time to fully engage as I would like.
